Our specialised Pilates classes

Life Pilates offers unique Pilates classes and personalised support specifically designed for expectant mothers and new mums in Market Deeping, Bourne and the surrounding area. Discover how we can help you feel stronger, more energised, and deeply connected to your body during this special time.

 

Classes are led by Vicky, the founder of Life Pilates, who is qualified to teach both mat Pilates and Pilates adapted for pre and postnatal exercise.

Pilates for Pregnancy

Group classes for expectant mums from 16 weeks until birth. Focus on preparing your body for labour, maintaining core strength, and fostering overall wellbeing.

 Pilates for New Mums

Gentle recovery classes for new mums who have been given clearance to exercise following their 6-week postnatal check up and up to 12 months after birth. Restore strength, re-engage your core, and boost your energy levels. Bring baby along and connect with other new mums in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Why Pilates for Pregnancy?

Antenatal Pilates provides low-impact exercises designed to enhance both physical and mental strength, promoting overall wellbeing. By engaging in Pilates, women can boost their energy levels and cultivate a strong core, which prepares them for the unique challenges of pregnancy and childbirth, supporting their stabiliser muscles and posture throughout this transformational journey.

Our exercises are specifically crafted to strengthen the local muscles essential for navigating the challenges of motherhood and promoting recovery. Key Pilates principles, such as Breathing—which helps facilitate movement—and Centering, which focuses on core engagement and pelvic floor strengthening, are vital skills for both childbirth and postnatal recovery.

Participants may be asked to obtain medical clearance from their GP/Midwife before participating in classes.

Embracing motherhood with Pilates

Life Pilates offers a warm, welcoming and supportive group exercise environment. Our antenatal classes will focus on pregnancy exercise suitable from 16 weeks, taking mothers through the second and third trimesters. Our postnatal classes offer a relaxed exercise environment where new mums can come to a supportive class with their infant and enjoy restorative exercises good for both the body and mind.

Pilates promotes muscle flexibility and tone, helping mums reconnect with their changing body over the 3 trimesters of pregnancy and beyond. Gentle restorative exercise is also excellent for general wellbeing, offering some 'me' time for mum, a bit of headspace, and the release of happy endorphins to lift the mood.

Postnatal participants will need to have been given clearance to exercise from their GP following their 6-week postnatal check.
